Plumbing Question? My house is 2 years old and we constantly have backed up drains, toilet water in bathtub.
At first we figure the kids had flushed something, but we are so careful now and it happens so frequently. The toilets will bubble and get low, then the shower won’t drain. kitchen sink makes a low bomp sound. We have an unfinished bathroom upstairs, and so I was wondering, is it possible that our problems come from lack of pressure to keep the system moving or are there any other explanations, cause I don’t think its a clog.
You may have apartly blocked soil stack or vent stack. The stacks may have not been installed right. I would find a responsible plumber to look at the stacks. With improper venting can produce those symptoms.
just a guess. Go outside and look at the pipe or pipes coming through the roof.Do they or does it have what looks like a black rubber cap on it? We use them for test purposes and if left on in error they will no allow proper venting.Also look in attic to see if pipes there are capped or not connected to outside.Venting is important, have you ever put a straw into a glass of water,then put your finger on the top of the straw? It will then pick up the water from the glass, and it will come out of the straw fast when you remove your finger from the straw that is venting.Look for caps on the vent, a simple mistake that could hound you for years!
have you contacted the builder? don’t new houses have a guarantee of some kind. like a 5 year guarantee?
that stack pipe thing seems logical to me. it need to be higher than the house plumbing.
get someone like roto router to snake the pipes
It could be the vent stack as already mentioned…
It could be a drop in the plumbing line somewhere… all of your plumbing is supposed to run downhill at a minimum angle… sometimes a section of pice willl come loose (the straps holding it in place will break, or come unfastened), leaving you with a section of pipe that is dipped too low… and so the waste has to actually try to run back uphill for a short space..and this can lead to a blockage eventually.
It could be a toy, or other object did get flushed when you thought it did.
Finally, you havent mentioned whether you are on public sewer systems or septic tank….If public, there could be a partial cave in, or crushed pipe, between your home and the main. If septic, it could be in need of service. Adding Rid X once a month to a septic tank system helps keep its bacteria at a healthy level, and helps to prevent back up.
In short.. I’d call a plumber to check out the system.
