Sometimes a small kink in the hose is enough to do the damage. I had the same problem and just pulling the machine out and pushing it back cleared it. Bit of a long shot though

It depends on your machine, but generally speaking you need to clear the filter. This is usually found at the front of the machine, on the bottom - either left or right hand side. It is frequently hidden behind a kick panel. This can be easily removed. If you're lucky enough to have a Bosh (or similar make) than you're laughing - as there should be both a filter and a small hose. Use the hose and a bowl to drain the machine, then clear the filter. Be warned, the water may be smelly and you will need some towels to soak up the spillage!

Remove the hose and look to see if its clogged, you might have to look further than the hose. The next time you was a rug in the washer get a large pillow case and a twist tie and put it in there to wash. The rug will be clean and the lint will be in the pillow case which you can then turn inside out and throw lint away.

Also check you drain it might be clogged stopping the water flow.

oh,this happened to me several years ago,i found out too late i had to clean the filter every so often, though its first and last time i bought a machine that i had to do it manually,grrr..
It blew up my machine as the water couldn't drain,i heard a huge bang one afternoon, and went in to see my washing machine on fire, and happily burning my washing, and my kitchen.
My washer had a filter at the front of machine, but if you have handbook still go to filter page and it should tell you where it is,and how to clean, also you should have a what if... section for faults,it should have a filter solving thingy in that page. :):)

The agitator should pull up out of the machine (not easily, but it shouldn't take a crowbar either). Clean everything below it.

Unhook all the lines, and pull the machine away from the wall. Open up the back of it. Clean everything you can get access to--traps, filters, etc. Run a drain snake down inside of the drain hoses to clear out any obstructions. Close up the back and reconnect all the lines. Try running a small amount of water into the machine and then putting it on rinse or spin to see if you have cleared all of the obstructions.

If this doesn't help, then calling in a professional is your next step.

sounds like the drain hose to me. Detach the drain hose from the washer and use your water hose to flush it out, if that doesn't work, call a professional
