How do I extract my old shower drain from the floor to replace with a new one?

I’m redoing my shower. I’ve gone right down to the shower pan. The new shower drain that I purchased does not have holes that line up with the old drain base, so I’m going to have to pull the old one out. It’s in there pretty tight, into the concrete slab. How do I get it out? Should I just let it remain and drill holes in the top part of the new shower drain so that it will fit?

Or are drains that were place into the concrete just tight, such that I might have to chip and break it out to replace with a new one?

Thanks to all plumbing experts!
This is a concrete foundation home. Therefore, I can’t get under the house, there’s no wood framing to deal with. The drain sleeve is just right in the concrete.

SOUND LIKE YOUR DIY IS NOT WORKING.

Depending on how big you would have to center a hole in the pan (is what I’m assuming you mean) You might get away with some sort of rubber sleeve and a large drain cover.Just a guess..
