But it is something that most people will have to deal with every once in a while. But there are ways to unblock bathroom drainage easily and can make this unenviable job a lot easier.
What Causes stopped drains in your home?.
Blocked drainage can result from trapped solid objects such as hair, dust and particles between your bathroom drain pipe and the attached pipes. The condition gets worse when products like conditioners, shampoos and detergents accumulate in the already obstructed drains. When the accumulation reaches a level of thickness that constrains the free movement of water, the problem is pointed out as blocked drain pipe. If your sink or tub fills up fast with water while it should have drained out quickly, you could be in for a serious case of stopped pipes.
So how can you unclog these drainage?.
If you’re facing a plugged bathroom sink or bath drain problem, there are a couple of different things you can do to get things running smoothly again. Of course, in either the sink or the bathtub, the first thing you should do is remove the plug. In the case of the bathroom sink, you can remove the plug by either pulling it out, unscrewing the nuts that hold it in proper position. In case of bathtub drain pipe, you can either remove the overflow plate or unscrew the stopper.
You may be able to see the clog clearly after the plug has been taken out. You are most likely to see bunch of hair and other debris entangled in a blockage. Try to pull it out, as much as you can. Use a wire from a clothes hangar or some other apparatus if you have difficulties reaching the blockage or grabbing the build up so that you can pull it out. As soon as the clog is removed, water will start running freely through the drain.
If the clog cannot be pulled out with the help of the hanger, then you should use other clog-clearing methods. Use a drain pipe plunger to loosen the blockage that is deeper down the pipework. To use the plunger the overflow drain pipe pipe should be covered first with the help of a wet cloth, this will make the suction stronger and make it harder for air to enter the pipes. Now position the plunger exactly over and around the drain pipe hole and push it rapidly up and down with short quick movements. If you are successful, any water, if trapped, will be immediately drained when the plunger is released.
You may have to turn to a chemical solution, if the plunger fails to do the job. It should be noted that chemical drainpipe cleaners should only be used as a final solution as the chemicals are harmful and could damage your bathroom fixtures and sanitary fittings.
